Tour of Silchester 2024 pre-event details

The venue is Yateley United Football Club in Yateley (GU46 7SS, what3words: dress.descended.bucked). Free parking is available on-site on a first come, first serve basis from 08:00. This year, we will have to share the car park with the nearby Cricket Club, so we are expecting parking to be busier. Because of this, you may also wish to park at Rosebank Parade car park, behind the shops (GU46 7UW), which is less than a mile from the venue.

Please do not arrive before 08:00 to allow us to set-up, this is for your own safety.

On the day:
On arrival, all riders will need to head to the sign-on area by the club house, and sign in at the desk. The sign-on area will be split into those who have pre-entered and those entering on the day. You will need to find your name and sign yourself in, you will then be given a number to attach to your bike for the event. Please also sign back in after the ride and return your ride numbers so that we can reuse them for future events.

The start times are:
50 miles: from 08.45 am
30 miles: from 9.00 am

There will be a briefing before the start, with riders setting off in groups to ease congestion on the road through the park. Both routes are sign posted with a split at 16.2 miles. Maps will be available to view at the start venue and the routes can be downloaded below.  There will be 1 cake and water stop on the 50 mile route after 22.5 miles where you can fill up on water and free, tasty treats from Simple Cakes.

Whilst we expect it to be dry on the day, due to recent weather, we do expect some roads to be gritty and damp in places given the rural nature of our routes, so please come prepared with enough spares. Gravel areas will be assessed before the ride and clearly marked with signage.

At the start and finish area there will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake to buy, as well as extra tubes, tyres, gels and a few other bits and pieces you might need.

Things you will need to bring on the day are:
A helmet (no rider will be allowed out without a helmet), water, tubes, phone, money, gels/food, pump.

At the water stop there will be a track pump and a few spare tubes which you can buy if you need extra. There will be motorbike marshals out on the course in case you have a problem.

Medals

Those who have pre-ordered a medal will be able to collect them at the registration tent when you finish.

Unfortunately, our stock of medals for this year’s Tour of Silchester has now sold out.

As communicated earlier this week, pre-entry is now closed and we are no longer able to offer entry on the day, we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but we must ensure we are able to run our events in a safe manor.
