Tour of the Candovers 2024 Pre-event details

Thank you for entering the Tour of the Candovers this Sunday. Below are the final instructions for what to do on the day. If you have any questions please get in touch.

The venue is Robert Mays School in Odiham (RG29 1NA, what3words: labels.doubts.alternate). Free parking is available on-site on a first come, first serve basis from 08:15. Alternative parking will be available in Odiham High Street, a short cycle from the start. Please do not arrive before 08:15 to allow us to set-up, this is for your own safety and will still allow plenty of time to get signed in and ready for your ride.

On the day:
On arrival, all riders will need to head to the sign-on area in the courtyard, and sign in at the desk. The sign on area will be split into those who have pre-entered and those entering on the day. You will need to find your name and sign yourself in, you will then be given a number to attach to your bike. We do ask you provide your mobile number if you haven’t already, in the event of any incidents. Please also sign back in after the ride and return your ride numbers so that we can reuse them for future events, we are also pleased to announce that you will be given a voucher for £10 off food and drink courtesy of The Red Lion pub in Odiham to enjoy a well earnt drink or meal in their fantastic pub after your ride, or later this year.

The start times are:
60 miles: from 09:00
40 miles: from 09.10
20 miles: from 09.20

If you are running late please contact us so that we can ensure all volunteers and marshals are aware and you are able to start your ride safely.

Riders will be set off in groups, and there will be a briefing before the start of every group setting off. All routes are sign posted and maps will be available to view at the start venue, the routes can also be downloaded below. There will only be 1 cake and water stop after 12 miles on the 40 mile route and 30 miles on the 60 mile route. Here you can fill up on water and free, tasty treats from Simple Cakes.

Despite the recent dry weather, we do expect some roads to be gritty given the rural nature of our routes, so please come prepared with enough spares. Gravel areas will be assessed before the ride and clearly marked with signage.

At the start and finish area there will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake to buy, as well as extra tubes, tyres, gels and a few other bits and pieces you might need. There will also be a chance to chat to our event sponsors Handsling Bikes and get a post-ride massage.

Things you will need to bring on the day are:
A helmet – no rider will be allowed out without a helmet.
Water
Tubes
Phone
Gels/Food
Pump/inflators

At the water stop there will be a track pump and a few spare tubes which you can buy if you need extra. There will also be motorbike marshals out on the course in case you have a problem.

Medals

Those who have pre-ordered a medal will be able to collect them at the registration tent when you finish.

If you haven’t already, we do still have a few medals available for pre-order, if you would like to grab yourself a unique, sustainable reward for your efforts.

Pre-entry is now closed but riders can still enter on the day if you know anyone who wants to come along, the cost of entry on the day is £20 for the 20 mile route, £25 for the 40 mile route and £30 for the 60.

Once again thank you for entering this years edition and helping us raise money for Naomi House & Jacksplace, we hope you’re looking forward to taking part. We look forward to welcoming you there on Sunday.
