The venue is Robert Mays School in Odiham (RG29 1NA), with parking available on-site from 8am, though spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis, there is also plenty of parking on the roads in surrounding areas.
On the day:
The Tour of the Candovers is running under British Cycling’s current sportive guidelines.
This year we will have a photographer with us to take some photos of the event, if you do not wish to be in any photos please speak to us beforehand or on the day. All marshalls and volunteers will be in a yellow high-vis jacket on the day.
Sign-on will be open from 08:15 in the courtyard to collect your number which should then be cable tied to your handlebars (cable ties will be supplied). Please make sure you are signed on and ready on time for your start (below), we would like all riders away on time, so that there is space between the groups. Please also make sure you return your number to us after your ride.
All routes are sign posted with the 40 and 60 mile routes being the same up to the first split where it will then re-join up later on the course and carry on together until the end. Maps will be available to view at the start venue and the routes can be downloaded on our website to be loaded onto your devices. There is one point of the 40 and 60 mile course where you are going back on yourself after rejoining further round the route please be aware that some arrows might be double sided.
The start times are:
60 miles from 9.00 am
40 miles from 9.20 am
20 miles from 09.30 am
There will be a rider briefing before each start and we will be setting you off in groups to spread riders out. There will be 1 cake and water stop on the 40 route after around 15 miles, and 1 on the 60 mile route after around 36 miles, so please make sure you have sufficient amounts of water to get you to the stop.
At the start and finish area there will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake to buy, as well as extra tubes, tyres, gels and a few other bits and pieces you might need on the day.
Things you will need on the day are:
Tubes
Phone
Money
Gels
Food
Pump
Helmet – no rider will be allowed out without a helmet this is for our insurance purposes.
At each water stop there will be a track pump and a few spare tubes which you can buy if you need extra. There will be motorbike marshals circulating out on the course in case you have a problem.
Pre-entry is now closed but riders can still enter on the day if you know anyone who wants to come along, the cost of entry on the day is £20 for the 20 mile route, £25 for the 40 and £30 for the 60.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for continued dry weather, and its shaping up to be a great day raising valuable funds for Naomi House & Jacks Place.
