Tour of the Worthys 2023 Pre-event Info

Tour of the Worthys 2023

Ahead of the Tour Of The Worthys this Sunday. Below is the final instructions for what to do on the day. If you have any questions please get in touch.

The venue is Alresford Rugby Club in Alresford (SO24 9BZ). Free parking is available on-site on a first come, first serve basis from 8am, there is also plenty of parking at the nearby lower car park at Perins School across the road. Please note that the car park is shared with members of the Rugby Club, so please take care when travelling through the car park by car or bike.

On the day:
On arrival, all riders will need to head to the sign-on area to the right of the club house, which will be signposted, and sign in at the desk. The sign-on area will be split into those who have pre-entered and those entering on the day. You will need to find your name and sign yourself in, you will then be given a number to attach to your bike for the event. We do ask you provide your mobile number if you haven’t already, in the event of any incidents. Please also sign back in after the ride and return your ride numbers.

The start times are:
50 miles 8.45 am
30 miles 9.00 am

There will be a briefing before the start of every group setting off, with riders setting off in groups to ease congestion on the road through Alresford. Both routes are sign posted with a split at 26 miles. Maps will be available to view at the start venue and the routes can be downloaded on our website.  There will be 1 cake and water stop on the 50 mile route where you can fill up on water and free, tasty treats from Simple Cakes.

Whilst we have done all we can to bring dry and mild weather on the day, we do expect some roads to be gritty given the rural nature of our routes, so please come prepared with enough spares. Gravel areas will be assessed before the ride and clearly marked with signage.

At the start and finish area there will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake to buy, as well as extra tubes, tyres, gels and a few other bits and pieces you might need.

Things you will need to bring on the day are:
A helmet – no rider will be allowed out without a helmet.
Water
Tubes
Phone
Money
Gels/Food
Pump

At each water stop there will be a track pump and a few spare tubes which you can buy if you need extra. There will be motorbike marshals out on the course in case you have a problem.

Medals

Those who have pre-ordered a medal will be able to collect them at the registration tent when you finish. If you haven’t already, we do still have a few medals available for pre-order, if you would like to grab yourself a unique, sustainable reward for your efforts.

Signage

This year we have some new signage. So, if you have ridden with us before, please be aware you are now following our easy to spot orange signage. A reminder will be given, and examples shown, in your briefing before you set off.

Pre-entry is now closed but riders can still enter on the day if you know anyone who wants to come along, the cost of entry on the day is £25 for the 30 route and £30 for the 50.

Once again thank you for entering this years edition, we hope you’re looking forward to taking part. It’s shaping up to be another great Tour of the Worthys, so we look forward to welcoming you all there on Sunday.
