Tour of the Worthys 2024 pre-event details

Tour of the Worthys 2024

If you are attending the Tour of the Worthys on Sunday 14th April 2024, below are the final instructions for what to do on the day. If you have any questions please get in touch.

The start point is Princes Mead School in Kings Worthy (SO21 1AN, what3words: evolution.plots.mows). Free parking is available on-site, please follow the instructions from the volunteers on where to park when you arrive.

On arrival:
Entry will be open from 08:15. Please do not arrive before 08:15 to allow us to set-up, this is for your own safety and will still allow plenty of time to get signed in and ready for your ride.

All riders will need to head to the sign-on area and sign in at the desk. You will need to find your name and sign yourself in, and take a number to attach to your bike. We do ask you provide your mobile number if you haven’t already, in the event of any incidents. Please also sign back in after the ride and return your ride numbers so that we can reuse them for future events.

The start times are:
50 miles: from 09:00
30 miles: from 09.10

If you are running late please contact us so that we can ensure all volunteers and marshals are aware and you are able to start your ride safely.

Riders will be set off in groups, and there will be a briefing before the start of every group setting off. All routes are sign posted with a split at 20 miles. Maps will be available to view at the start venue and the routes can be downloaded below. Due to volunteer numbers there will only be 1 cake and water stop after 25.7 miles on the 50 mile route. Here you can fill up on water and free, tasty treats from Simple Cakes.

Whilst the weather forecast over the weekend is looking dry, we do expect some roads to be gritty given the rural nature of our routes and the recent rain, so please come prepared with enough spares. Gravel areas will be assessed before the ride and clearly marked with signage.

At the start and finish area there will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake to buy, as well as extra tubes, tyres, gels and a few other bits and pieces you might need. There will also be a chance to chat to our event sponsors Handsling Bikes and get a post-ride massage.

Things you will need to bring on the day are:
A helmet – no rider will be allowed out without a helmet.
Water
Tubes
Phone
Gels/Food
Pump/inflators

At the water stop there will be a track pump and a few spare tubes which you can buy if you need extra. There will also be motorbike marshals out on the course in case you have a problem.

Medals

Those who have pre-ordered a medal will be able to collect them at the registration tent when you finish. If you haven’t already, we do still have a few medals available for pre-order, if you would like to grab yourself a unique, sustainable reward for your efforts.

As communicated earlier this week, pre-entry is now closed and we are no longer able to offer entry on the day, we are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but we must ensure we are able to run our events in a safe manor.

Once again thank you for entering this year’s edition, it’s shaping up to be another great day on the bike together!
